Real Madrid took another hit when Vinicius Jr. allegedly turned down the chance to talk about a contract with the Spanish giants.
Madrid has been the talk of the town for the past week after officials refused to go to the Ballon d’Or ceremony because Vinicius wasn’t given the award.
Brazilian midfielder Rodri, who plays for Manchester City and Spain, beat him to win the renowned trophy. Jude Bellingham, who plays for Real Madrid, came in third.
Reports from Spain say Vinicius has turned down the chance to talk about renewing his contract, which has caused more debate.
Relevo says that the runner-up for the Ballon d’Or thanked Madrid’s leaders for wanting to continue his contract. He also said that he would think about the offer but did not sign it.
The current deal for Vinicius at the Santiago Bernabeu lasts until 2027, but Madrid will want to lock him down because Saudi Arabia is becoming more interested.
This August, ge.globo.com says that Vinicius’s representatives were given a plan from Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund for him to join Al-Ahli.
The offer is said to be worth €1bn over five years, and Vinicius would get paid 13 times more each year than he does at the Bernabeu.
Prior to the 2034 World Cup, which will be held in Saudi Arabia, PIF tried to get Vinicius to become the face of the league.
But Real Madrid wasn’t going to sell Vinicius, and the player was eager to stay with the team and keep working with Carlo Ancelotti.
At the time, it was also said that Vinicius’s goal was to win the Ballon d’Or while he was at Madrid. On Monday, he just missed it by a hair.
Because of early “leaked” news of the outcome, Vinicius and his coworkers from Madrid shockingly skipped the fancy awards show in Paris just hours before it began.
Vinicius was a heavy favorite to win the Ballon d’Or in 2024 after making a big difference in helping Real Madrid win both the LaLiga and the UEFA Champions League.
In 10 Champions League games, he scored six goals and set up four others. In 26 La Liga games, he helped set up 20 goals.
Before the event, RMC said that Florentino Perez, the president of Madrid, was very angry about the choice.
A journalist named Jose Luis Sanchez said that a group of fifty people were supposed to take a jet, but they changed their plans when they found out that Vinicius would not win.
He has won the Copa del Rey, two Champions Leagues, and three La Liga wins.
