The primary distinction between playing for Manchester United and Napoli has been disclosed by SCOTT McTOMINAY.
The 27-year-old Scotland midfielder bid Old Trafford farewell with passion this summer, ending his more than two-decade association with the team.
In a £25 million deal, he joined Serie A powerhouse Napoli, and he has excelled in Italy.
Scott McTominay has made an impressive start to life in Italy
In McTominay’s first four games, Napoli has won three and drawn with Juventus, not losing.
In the Coppa Italia, McTominay scored and provided an assist in their 5-0 victory over Palermo.
It follows after Erik ten Hag mainly used him as a supporting role.
Furthermore, McTominay—who is currently under Antonio Conte’s coaching—has acknowledged that since joining Napoli, he has had to become more proficient in the tactical aspect of the game.
“They are very different, I would say there is much more tactics that you need to know in Serie A, your role within the team and with your teammates,” he remarked in an interview with Radio CRC.
“You physically make an impression; Serie A and the Premier League are very different.
In Italy, the tactical work is more rigorous. The Italian championship’s calibre greatly struck me; as someone from England, I didn’t always understand how I could succeed now.
“I was impressed by the technical level of the teams but also of the players, starting with my teammates.”
McTominay scored 29 goals and provided eight assists in 255 games for Manchester United.
However, McTominay’s Napoli is leading Serie A after six games, while his previous club is currently ranked 13th in the Premier League.
They did not make it to Europe last season, finishing in 10th place after a poor attempt to defend their league crown.
