FAIR AND RIGHT: Man Utd WIN appeal against Bruno Fernandes’ red card against Tottenham after the star was sent off for the first time for the Red Devils

Following the club’s victory in their appeal against his red card against Tottenham, BRUNO FERNANDES is available for Manchester United’s next three games.

In the first half of United’s 3-0 loss at Old Trafford, the captain was sent off for a challenge on James Maddison.

Fernandes seemed to trip while trying to catch the ball.

And when he finally made contact with Maddison’s leg, referee Chris Kavanagh signalled Fernandes red almost instantly, a decision that was later confirmed by VAR.

United was only ahead 1-0 at the interval and were about to enter the tunnel for a massive morale blow.

The awkward challenge, however, barely merited a yellow card at most, according to analysts.

Fernandes was also expected to miss the following three league games against Brentford, West Ham, and Aston Villa as a result.

However, United filed a wrongful dismissal appeal right away.

Additionally, Fernandes’ first-ever straight red was declared to have been cancelled by the FA.

“After a successful wrongful dismissal claim, Bruno Fernandes will be available for Man Utd’s next three games,” the statement said.

“The midfielder was sent off for serious foul play during the Premier League match against Tottenham.”

After fuming at full time on Sunday over the decision, Fernandes would undoubtedly be relieved to hear the news.

He clarified by saying that Maddison had acknowledged it wasn’t a red card: “Even James Maddison stated it wasn’t a red card when he got up. If this constitutes a red card, we need to examine numerous more instances.

“Why VAR doesn’t summon the referee to the screen is beyond me.

“It becomes worse after the red card. I must acknowledge the tremendous effort my teammates have put forth in an attempt to rejoin the game, but it was not feasible. I was pleased that they put up a lot of effort and shown strong morals.”

Sky Sports analysts Darren Bent, Ashley Young, and Jamie Redknapp also supported Fernandes.

“He slips, his feet go under him,” Redknapp remarked. It looks like a yellow card to me.”

Young went on, “I don’t think it’s recklessness or major foul play.

“Yes, he is out of control, but he slips, I don’t think he goes to take out Maddison.”

Bent responded, saying, “When I first saw it, I felt it was naughty. However, it is more petulant than anything when he stumbles.

“It is a poor decision, a bad one, a poor one.”
