After his house was targeted while he was playing for Real Madrid, KARIM BENZEMA is the most recent football player to have his home broken into.
French superstar Karim Benzema has been the victim of robbery, only days after Victor Lindelof’s wife and children were forced to flee after thieves stole into their residence. The 34-year-old’s opulent home in San Sebastian de los Reyes was broken into on Sunday while he was playing Elche at the Bernabeu. During Los Blancos’ 2-2 tie, the attackers allegedly broke into his house through his garden, according to the Spanish news source 20minutos. The former Lyon striker was lucky that no one was living in his house. The robbers’ identities are currently unknown, and it’s unclear what exactly has been taken. There have been previous instances where Benzema has been the target of robbers during a game.
When Real Madrid fell 3-0 to rivals Barcelona in their Copa del Rey semi-final second leg in February 2019, there was a raid on his home. After missing an early penalty against Elche, Benzema had a terrible weekend culminating in the incident on Sunday. And in the 58th minute, he was hurt after experiencing pain in his left leg. He might now be unable to play against Athletic Bilbao on Thursday in the Copa del Rey quarterfinal.
On Tuesday, Benzema will have medical testing done to see if he will be healthy enough to play or if he will need to miss some time. This season, Real Madrid has dominated La Liga thanks in large part to the efforts of the Les Bleus international. Benzema has contributed 24 goals and 9 assists in 28 games across all competitions; 17 of his goals have come in the Spanish top division.
