Thibaut Courtois finally explained why Enrick, a young star player for Real Madrid, was affectionately called “Bobby” by his teammates.
The skilled 18-year-old signed a six-year deal with the club from Brazilian team Palmeiras in the summer and has already made a big impact.
He made history when he scored on his first game in La Liga for Real Madrid at the age of 18. He also scored against Stuttgart in the Champions League.
The young star scored two goals in his first five games in Spain, and he quickly became popular with the rest of the team, which led to an odd nickname.
The strange name “Bobby” is a tribute to the late, great Sir Bobby Charlton, a hero for Manchester United and England who died way too young last year at the age of 86.
Though Courtois has now said there is another reason for the nickname.
He told Ibai Llanos, “He told me that he had been misunderstood and that what he was trying to say had been changed a bit… or something like that.”
“One day I asked him about it, and he said he hadn’t said that; the video had been changed to make it look like he said he was his idol.”
After getting a goal for Brazil against England in March, Endrick said that Charlton was one of his biggest influences. He said, “Bobby Charlton is an idol here.”
“It is a historic day to play in the stadium where Bobby played and scored a goal on the same day Ronaldo made his debut.”
But the term quickly turned into a joke among the players, with Jude Bellingham and Rodrygo, Endrick’s countryman, being among the first people to use it in public.
To ESPN Brazil, Rodrygo said, “Now he’s Bobby.” He’s no longer Endrick. He gets that joke now.
The people at Real Madrid have been nice to him, and not just the Brazilians. At Real, we have a great group, and he’s no different.
“We know what kind of person he is and how he can help us.” There it is: he’s changed into Bobby. He’s not doing much. He can’t do anything; it will only get worse if he gets mad!
Endrick just got married to his model girlfriend Gabriely Miranda off the pitch. The happy pair shared pictures from their big day on social media.
Miranda, 23, used the Bible to back up what she wrote: “Matthew 19:6.” They are no longer two, but one body. So, no one can take apart what God has put together.
They may have met not long ago, less than a year ago. Miranda is also a big deal; she has more than a million Instagram fans.
