In an apparent warning to his fellow Brazilians at Real Madrid, Neymar reportedly stated, “It was hell” to play alongside Kylian Mbappe at Paris Saint-Germain.
Consequently, what happened?
Neymar and Mbappe scored 54 goals together while playing together for PSG on 136 occasions between 2017 and 2023. Neymar is said to have cautioned fellow Brazilians Vinicius Junior, Rodrygo, and Eder Militao that playing with the French international may be “catastrophic” at times. The former is already at Al-Hilal, while the latter joined Real Madrid earlier this summer.
‘IT WAS HELL’
Journalist Cyril Hanouna claims that Neymar spoke with Madrid’s Brazilian delegation and alerted them about Mbappe’s situation. “The Brazilians [at Real Madrid] are friends with Neymar,” Hanouna stated on Europe 1. Neymar and Mbappe have always been at war with one another. In a paper on Mbappe, Neymar informed the Brazilians that the situation was disastrous and terrible.
THE BIGGER PICTURE
The two have reportedly been on frosty terms for quite some time, with Mbappe admitting in September 2022 that his relationship with Neymar at PSG was “hot and cold”. It appears relations have not improved since then, despite them now being on different continents.
WHAT NEXT?
While Neymar is still recovering from a serious knee injury he suffered last year for Al-Hilal, Mbappe could feature for Madrid in the first game of their Champions League title defence on Tuesday at home to Stuttgart.
