A player from Real Madrid named Arda Güler played all 90 minutes for Turkey against Iceland in the UEFA Nations League. He set up a beautiful goal that helped Turkey win 3-1.
Güler got hurt against Wales on Friday, so it wasn’t clear if he would start or even play against Iceland. But it turned out he was healthy enough to play, and he started on the right side.
The first half was a bit slow for Güler, but the second half was much better. He was the main reason why Turkey had so many chances, and one of them led straight to a goal. In general, he did pretty well, as shown by the four key passes he made.
This time, he was much more active in the buildup. He had 70 passes, 84 touches, completed six out of seven long balls, and just generally dropped deep more than once to help with the buildup.
Güler kept switching places with his fellow forwards, and he also finished three dribbles. We saw him play as a 10 because of this, and that’s where he was when he got his third assist in his last four international games. There wasn’t much to praise about the defence, though, as Turkey won the game from start to finish.
