In Portugal’s second Nations League game, they fell behind after just seven minutes to an unstoppable header from former Man United midfielder Scott McTominay.

Portugal pressed forward in search of an equaliser, but were unable to overcome a solid Scottish defence. Nine minutes after the break, Fernandes produced a moment of genius, firing a shot from outside the box into the bottom corner. Angus Gunn got a hand to the ball but could not stop the Red Devils captain’s superb effort.

This was a match in which Fernandes played the full 90 minutes, with 98 touches of the ball. He completed 56 of 64 passes (88% pass accuracy). Notably, the Portuguese star had 6 decisive passes, creating 2 big chances.

The Man United playmaker made four long passes, all of which were accurate. In addition to scoring, he also had another shot on target that made Gunn show off his skills.

Despite turning 29 today, Fernandes is still in great form. He completed two out of three dribbles, participated in 13 duels on the pitch, won eight, and made four tackles.

With what he has shown, Fernandes completely deserves to be voted the best player of the match.
