The 82-cap England player, formerly of Chelsea, was told he had no future at Stamford Bridge after Enzo Maresca cut him from the team.

The transfer window ended on Friday at 11 p.m., but clubs that have timely completed deal papers can still submit the necessary paperwork to finalise transactions.

The 29-year-old Sterling was once mentioned as a potential replacement for Jadon Sancho at Manchester United, but that deal fell through.

Sterling’s chances of getting into the game this season will increase with his move to the Emirates.

In the Premier League, Sterling’s career has been largely successful.

At Manchester City, he has four league titles and one FA Cup.

According to sources, Jadon Sancho is set to move from Manchester United to Stamford Bridge on a loan deal with an obligation to buy, among other possible movements.

On deadline day, the Blues had already been dealt a blow when it was revealed that Al-Ahli was closing in on Ivan Toney and Victor Osimhen, their two main striker targets.

In anticipation of a possible transfer, England forward Toney has drawn interest from Premier League teams, including Chelsea. He has not been included in a Bees matchday squad this season.

Thomas Frank, the head coach of Brentford, confirmed the move in a club release, saying, “I’m happy he has an opportunity to try something new in his life and career.”
